Thomas Kapusta, LEED® AP, AIA, NCARB
Tom Kapusta is a licensed architect, working in the fields of architecture
and interior design for more than thirty years, with extensive experience
in the area of corporate and retail interior design, sustainability, adaptive reuse
of existing buildings, and historic renovations. He has been a business
owner for more than twenty years.
TKA is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, and is currently
designing sustainable projects for the City of Chicago and the Brookfield
Zoo, to name a few.
In his current role as President of TKA + Partners, Mr. Kapusta has
developed a building design management and communications system focused
on the effective management of costs, quality, schedule and sustainability (CQSS),
which has led to project management and owners representation assignments
for organizations such as AT&T, the Brookfield Zoo, Oak Park / River
Forest High School, and Cingular.
Mr. Kapusta has held board positions on the Oak Park Zoning Board,
the Oak Park Education Foundation, the American Institute of Architects
(AIA) and was recently the president of the Northern Illinois chapter
of the International Facilities Managers Association (IFMA) in 2006.
His former positions included a management position with Harry Weese
and Associates, where he restored notable Chicago buildings such as
Adler and Sullivan’s Auditorium Theatre, The Newberry Library,
and the South Loop Printing House Row lofts. Other well-known consulting
assignments have included the restoration of Frank Lloyd Wright’s
Unity Temple, The Ernest Hemingway Birthplace, and Christ Episcopal
Church.
