NEW PROJECT
TKA's Latest Project: Re-designing the Majestic Theatre in Downtown Kankakee
Preview Site Drawings
One of Kankakee’s historic landmarks dating back to 1912, The Majestic Theatre, is undergoing a dramatic transformation into a community arts and conference center.
TKA is partnering with the developer in the renovation project and currently is drawing up renderings for the modernized theater.
“There will be no place like it for miles around!”
– Adam Meyer, developer --
The Majestic will feature a thrust stage, projection screen, stepped riser executive seating, small group seating and a new balcony. The plans will ultimately specify high-tech sound and lighting systems for the multi-purpose hall.
The updated center will operate as a conference center during the week and entertainment facility on weekends. The Majestic will be available for meetings, reunions, retreats, private parties, fundraisers, lectures and performances.
In its early years, the Majestic Theatre featured vaudeville era and other theatrical performances and hosted a number of famous people including the Marx Brothers.
