TKA + Partners work named to Interiors & Sources Top 10 LEED CI

Chicago Center for Green Technology Ranked among Latest and Greatest Sustainably- Designed Commercial Projects

CHICAGO, OCTOBER 2008 – TKA + Partners, an architecture firm specializing in corporate, commercial and residential design, announced that its renovation design for the U.S. Green Building Council’s Greenbuild 2007 ‘Legacy Project’ – a renovation and expansion of the Chicago Center for Green Technology (CCGT), was ranked second in Interiors & Sources magazine’s Top 10 LEED CI Projects.

TKA’s work with CCGT was chosen based on the project’s LEED rating and overall sustainable design and construction features including: design aesthetics, materials selection, performance (energy efficiency), site development and innovation. This renovation project incorporates certified, recycled, reused, regenerative and low-emitting materials in both its finish and construction.  In addition to providing new alternative materials and new energy efficient lighting, TKA + Partners also managed to creatively reuse and recycle materials from the existing space in an effort to save resources and responsibly manage the budget and timeline.

"TKA + Partners believes financial and environmental responsibility go hand in hand, " said Tom Kapusta, president and founder of TKA + Partners. "The Chicago Center for Green Technology is our testimonial to this ideal and we are honored to have our work with the CCGT recognized by Interiors & Sources."

As a living museum of LEED-CI initiatives, the Chicago Center for Green Technology has been registered for Platinum LEED-CI certification, and addresses all aspects of the LEED-CI rating system, including Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy & Atmosphere, Materials & Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Design Innovation.
